Uganda Premier League outfit BUL FC have wrapped up their mid-season transfer activity after securing the services of defender Ronald Madoi on a two-year deal.
The Jinja-based club opted for a measured approach in the January window, bringing in only one new face as head coach Alex Isabirye looks to tighten his team’s defensive structure for the remainder of the league campaign.
Madoi arrives with valuable experience despite still being early in his career. The defender previously made his name in the Uganda Premier League with Wakiso Giants before venturing abroad in 2024 to join Greek third-tier side SFK Pierikos.
After his time in Europe, Madoi further developed his game in the United States, where he recently featured for James Madison University. His return to Uganda now presents an opportunity to re-establish himself in the domestic top flight while adding depth to BUL’s defensive options.

For Isabirye, the move was not about making multiple additions but rather addressing a specific weakness within the squad.
Currently eighth on the league table with 23 points collected from 18 matches, BUL FC have struggled to maintain consistency this season, with defensive depth emerging as a key concern.
“We had few numbers in defense, and there was need to beef up the squad with someone with good attitude and character, and the right person was Madoi,” Isabirye stated.
“With him, we believe we shall have stability in defense. Madoi fits well in our style of play, and we are happy he is here.”
Before his rise in senior football, Madoi built a strong reputation at St. Mary’s Secondary School, Kitende, where he played a key role in the school’s triumphant run to the 2023 National Schools Championship title.
Speaking after completing the move, the defender expressed excitement about beginning a new chapter with the Eastern Giants.
“I am so grateful I am here because it is a dream come true for me,” Madoi told the club’s media. “My target is to defend and work with my teammates to see that we take this team to glory days. To the fans out there, I promise to make you happy, and we will achieve this club’s success together.”

Madoi could quickly be thrown into action, as BUL FC prepare for a swift return to league duties with a clash against Calvary FC in Njeru this Friday.
With the battle for a top-five finish still open, the club will be hoping the defender’s arrival brings added solidity and confidence at the back during the crucial final stretch of the season.
