Seven of the nine Uganda Premier League (UPL) sides still in contention for this season’s Stanbic Uganda Cup will enjoy the comfort of home support following the Round of 16 draw conducted at FUFA House in Mengo.
Reigning champions Vipers SC are among the beneficiaries after being paired with FUFA Big League outfit Iganga United. The Venoms, who progressed to this stage after dispatching Pajule Lions, will host the encounter at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Traditional heavyweights KCCA FC and Express FC also secured home fixtures. KCCA will lock horns with Onduparaka, while Express are set to entertain Red Devo in what promises to be another intriguing knockout contest.
Record league champions SC Villa will equally play on familiar turf when they welcome Maroons FC.

In another tie involving top-flight opposition, NEC FC will face either Lugazi FC or Police FC. The identity of NEC’s opponent remains unresolved due to an ongoing dispute stemming from the two sides’ earlier encounter. Lugazi initially emerged victorious, but Police FC lodged a petition alleging that Lugazi fielded an ineligible player.
Elsewhere, 2024 Uganda Cup champions Kitara FC have been drawn at home against Bunyaruguru FC, while URA FC will host Tapoh United as they seek to progress deeper into the competition.
The only Round of 16 fixture that does not involve a Uganda Premier League side will see Happy Boys Kagaba square off with Six O’clock in a battle for a place in the quarterfinals.
The Round of 16 matches will be played between March 16 and 18, with the winners advancing to the quarterfinals.
If teams are tied by goals at the end of 90 minutes, spot kicks will be applied to determine the winner.
Hosting teams have been reminded to be prepared in terms of infrastructure and event management.
