Aarhus GF are set to welcome one of East Africa’s brightest young prospects, with Ugandan forward James Bogere due to join the Danish Superliga side at the start of January, according to Footy-Africa.
The 17-year-old has agreed a long-term contract after completing a move from El Cambio Academy, a programme known for producing technically gifted players. The deal brings an end to weeks of speculation linking Bogere with top-flight clubs across Europe, including sides from the Premier League.
Massa urges patience and support for James Bogere after AFCON call-up
Bogere’s reputation has grown rapidly over the past year. He impressed at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, scoring against Canada and France as Uganda reached the last 16. His rise began even earlier during U-17 AFCON qualifying, where he struck seven times in four matches—twice registering hat-tricks.
Data from WhoScored showed the teenager was also the most prolific dribbler in the qualifying phase, recording 35 successful take-ons—more than any other player in the competition.
Aarhus are understood to have won the race by presenting a detailed development plan that appealed to both Bogere and his academy, emphasising gradual progression in a stable, high-performance environment.
A representative from El Cambio Academy confirmed the agreement, saying Bogere will link up with his new club once the window opens in January and that Denmark offers “the right stepping stone” for the forward’s long-term ambitions.
