Kitara FC have secured the services of one of their most trusted and experienced defenders, Jasper Baguma Aheebwa, with the player penning a fresh two-year contract that ties him to the club until 2027.
The roving left-back, who joined the Royals at the 2022/23 season, has grown into a pillar of consistency and resilience in the team’s backline. During his time at the club, Aheebwa has been part of Kitara’s most decorated spell in recent years, lifting both the FUFA Big League trophy and the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
For Aheebwa the decision to stay was really a straightforward one.
“Kitara is home. Extending my stay was easy because the club and the fans believe in me,” he said as quoted by the club’s social media platforms,” he explained.
Last season at Kitara, he made 28 appearances across the Uganda Premier League, Uganda Cup and the CAF Champions League. Overall, in his past three-year stint, Aheebwa has played 73 times.
Club CEO, Josh Atugonza, hailed the defender’s commitment and work ethic.
“Jasper has served the club with total dedication since his arrival. We had to keep him, and we expect the same level of commitment and performance in the seasons ahead,” he said.
Before his arrival at Kitara, the 27-year-old plied his trade with rivals Mbarara City FC, where he played for three campaigns, featuring in 57 appearances across all competitions.
