Ugandan international and winger Arafat Kiza Usama has neared a completion of a sensational move from rivals KCCA FC to Vipers SC, agreeing to put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the reigning Uganda Premier League champions, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who had been on the radar of several clubs including South Africa’s Marumo Gallants and TS Galaxy, has opted to remain in Uganda, reaching verbal terms for a switch from KCCA FC after failing to extend his contract there. His deal with the 13-time league winners expired on June 30, and negotiations collapsed earlier in July.

According to Footy-Africa’s exclusive information, Vipers swooped quickly, convincing the creative playmaker to join their ranks in what many are describing as one of the biggest domestic transfers in recent years.
Usama, who is comfortable both as an attacking midfielder and a wide forward, enjoyed an impressive spell at KCCA despite injuries, scoring seven goals and supplying six assists in 23 outings this season. Last campaign, he managed 10 goals and six assists in 26 appearances across league and continental action.
His performances earned him a place in the Uganda U20s, where he served as assistant captain at the 2024 All-Africa Games in Accra, guiding the Hippos to silver with three goals and two assists. He has since stepped up to the senior Cranes setup, making six appearances there.
