Uganda U-17 national team leader and FUFA Executive Committee member, Ariga Rasoul, has called on the Uganda Cubs to step onto the global stage with unwavering confidence, discipline, and the hunger to make history as they prepare for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.

Addressing the team at their Dubai training base on Wednesday evening, Ariga reminded the young players of the enormous responsibility they carry, representing millions of Ugandans who have long dreamed of such a moment.

“As you write history on the world stage, remember that discipline and focus are key to unlocking your true potential,” he told the players.

“Keep pushing boundaries, stay hungry for success, and let your determination be the narrative that inspires generations to come.”

His remarks came shortly after the Cubs wrapped up their final set of friendly matches in Dubai, where they tested themselves against fellow World Cup participants Venezuela, Panama, and Paraguay. Although the results included two narrow defeats and a draw, Ariga emphasized that the exposure was invaluable for a team making its maiden appearance on the biggest youth football stage.

The Uganda Cubs are scheduled to depart for Qatar on November 1, ready to script a new chapter in the nation’s football story. This will be Uganda’s first-ever appearance at a FIFA World Cup tournament at any level, a historic milestone that has ignited excitement across the country.

Drawn into Group K, the Cubs will face Canada, Chile, and France in what promises to be a tough but inspiring group. They begin their campaign against Canada on November 5, take on Chile on November 8, and close their group fixtures with a clash against France on November 11.
