Asaph Mwebaze pushes FUFA to sanction Mbale Heroes over unpaid dues

Veteran coach Asaph Mwebaze has formally petitioned the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), seeking the enforcement of a Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) ruling that ordered Mbale Heroes FC to settle his outstanding wages amounting to UGX 11.4 million.

Through his legal representatives, Kasisia & Co. Advocates, Mwebaze submitted a letter to FUFA’s Competitions Department on October 24, 2025, demanding immediate action after the club failed to honor the DRC’s directive.

The DRC verdict, issued on September 4, 2025, gave Mbale Heroes a 45-day window to pay the debt, a deadline that expired on October 18, 2025, without compliance.

In their correspondence, Mwebaze’s lawyers highlighted the club’s continued defiance and called upon FUFA to invoke Regulation 88 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code (2023 edition), which mandates the federation to enforce rulings from its judicial organs, including the DRC and the Appeals Committee.

They further urged FUFA to take disciplinary measures against the club, beginning with an immediate suspension from all football-related activities, including their upcoming FUFA Big League fixture against Kataka FC scheduled for Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Mbale City Stadium.

The petition, which was also copied to the Uganda Football Coaches Association, Mbale Heroes FC, Kataka FC, and Mwebaze, presses FUFA to ensure accountability and compliance with its own judicial processes.

Should FUFA act on the appeal, Mbale Heroes risk being barred from competition until they fulfil their financial obligation to the coach, a move that could further complicate the club’s domestic campaign.
