Vipers SC were unable to overcome a resilient Calvary FC as the two sides played out a goalless draw in a rescheduled Uganda Premier League clash on Tuesday in Yumbe.
Under the blazing afternoon sun, chances were scarce as both teams struggled to assert control. Vipersโ forward Isaac Ogwang had an early opportunity to put the visitors ahead but opted to pass to Milton Karisa, squandering what could have been a decisive strike.

Later, Yunus Sentamu came close to snatching a late winner for the Venoms, his free-kick rattling the woodwork but failing to find the net. Calvaryโs best opportunity arrived through Steven Nyalimo, whose left-footed effort skimmed wide, leaving the home fans frustrated.
Vipers were without key players Allan Okello, Rogers Torach, and Hillary Mukundane, all away with the Uganda Cranes squad at AFCON 2025 in Morocco, which clearly blunted their attacking edge. The visitors also suffered an early blow when Abubakali Walusimbi limped off injured after just 17 minutes, making way for Patrick Mbowa.
This draw marks Vipersโ third in four outings, following a perfect start to the season with four consecutive wins. Despite the slip, the defending champions sit second on the table with 18 points, trailing leaders KCCA FC by two points, who have a game in hand.

Calvary, on the other hand, have now earned just their second point of the campaign, their first being against Maroons, leaving them anchored at the bottom of the standings.
Attention now shifts to matchday 10, with Vipers hosting BUL at Kitende and Calvary welcoming Mbarara City to Yumbe, both fixtures slated for Saturday.
