Calvary FC’s long-anticipated homecoming to Yumbe turned sour on Friday as visiting Entebbe UPPC tore through the newcomers with a commanding 4-2 victory in the Uganda Premier League.
Backed by a passionate crowd braving a relentless downpour, Calvary hoped their first topflight match on home soil would spark a turnaround to their rocky campaign. Instead, the day exposed the very cracks that have haunted them all season: shaky defending, slow reactions, and an inability to weather sustained pressure.
Entebbe grew into the game with ease and struck first in the 37th minute when Samuel Kawawa coolly tucked away a flowing move engineered by the lively Muhammad Kyeyune. Moments after the break, the visitors doubled their advantage as Hassan Ssenyonjo finished off Steven Munguchi’s clever setup, leaving Calvary scrambling.
John Rogers briefly injected life into the stadium with a well-taken reply, but the joy was short-lived. Ambrose Kigozi punished more slack defending in the 65th minute, and before Calvary could even regroup, Kyeyune piled on with Entebbe’s fourth, effectively sealing the contest.
A glimmer of hope arrived when Lawrence Olaboro converted a penalty after Christopher Agotre was fouled, trimming the deficit to 4-2 with twenty minutes to go. But Entebbe closed ranks and calmly saw out the match, offering Calvary no further openings.

The defeat leaves the FUFA Big League champions rooted to the bottom of the table, winless after five matches and with growing frustration among supporters who had hoped home turf would spark a revival.
For Abdallah Mubiru and his Entebbe side, the afternoon was a triumph. The three points push them to fourth place on 10 points from six outings, reinforcing their status as early-season dark horses.
