Baba Alhassan’s international career has taken an exciting new turn after the Ghana-born midfielder received his first invitation to the Uganda Cranes setup.

Head coach Paul Put has selected the in-form FC Steaua Bucharest star in a 28-man provisional squad that will travel to Morocco for two crucial international friendlies against Chad and Morocco on November 15 and 19.

The matches will serve as the Cranes’ final warm-up phase as they intensify preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for December.

Alhassan, who recently completed the process to become eligible for Uganda, stands out as the only debutant in the squad. His call-up has stirred significant excitement among Cranes supporters, who are eager to see how his dynamic style might reshape Uganda’s midfield.

The 25-year-old has been a standout performer for Steaua Bucharest this season, amassing 21 appearances across all competitions and earning praise for his work rate, composure, and ability to control proceedings from the middle of the park. His blend of athleticism and technical craft is expected to offer Uganda a new dimension as Put evaluates his final squad options.

With AFCON fast approaching, the upcoming fixtures in Morocco will offer Alhassan a timely stage to impress, and potentially cement his place in Uganda’s squad for the continental showpiece.
