The long-running uncertainty surrounding Jude Ssemugabi’s future has finally been settled, with the Uganda Cranes striker sealing a move to South Sudanese outfit Jamus SC.

The Juba-based side officially presented their new signing on Friday, releasing a jubilant statement to mark his arrival:

“Ladies and gentlemen, please join us in giving a warm welcome to our superstar, Jude Ssemugabi, who arrived in Juba this afternoon! We’re thrilled to announce that Jude will begin his first training session with Jamus SC after tomorrow, as we prepare for the upcoming match against Al-Hilal of Sudan. His skills and talent will undoubtedly be a great addition to our team. Let’s show Jude love and support as he embarks on this exciting journey with us.”

The move ends weeks of speculation linking the forward with high-profile switches to Ugandan giants Vipers SC and KCCA FC. Interest had also come from further afield, Singapore Premier League side Brunei DPMM FC were reportedly keen and even lined up an approach earlier in July.

Ssemugabi’s profile has steadily risen in recent years. He was part of the Uganda Cranes squad at the rescheduled African Nations Championship (CHAN), where he scored in the thrilling 3-3 draw against South Africa at Namboole. He later added another strike in Uganda’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Somalia.

At club level, the forward leaves Kitara FC, where he built his reputation as one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Uganda Premier League. His earlier career included spells with Kiboga Young and Ssingo in the prestigious Buganda Masaza Cup, where he famously won the 2018 edition with Ssingo while also emerging top scorer with eight goals.

Ssemugabi will not be the only new face in Jamus SC colors this season. The club has also recruited Hassan Wasswa Dazo, Jaffar Kerepi, Martin Otwao, Ezra Bida, Rashid Okocha, and goalkeeper Richard Anyama in a clear statement of ambition.
