Kitara FC secured passage to the Round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after defeating Entebbe UPPC FC 2-0 in their Round of 32 encounter.
The contest, staged at Royal Park in Butema, saw the hosts produce a disciplined performance, with goals in either half from George Ssenkaaba and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa proving decisive.
Despite eventually falling short, Entebbe UPPC showed early promise and resilience, frustrating the Royals for large spells in the first half.
The visitors nearly stunned the home crowd when league top scorer Ambrose Kigozi and recent recruit Samuel Nsubuga both came close to opening the scoring during promising attacking moments.

However, Kitara eventually broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute when Ssenkaaba found the back of the net to give the home side a deserved lead heading into the break.
At the start of the second half, Kitara head coach rang the changes in a bid to freshen up his side, introducing Hussein Ssenoga and Alex Emmanuel Wasswa in place of Gadafi Wahabu and Frank Tumwesigye.
The tactical switch paid dividends late in the match. With just 10 minutes remaining, Wasswa capitalised on an opportunity to double the advantage, effectively putting the contest beyond the reach of the determined visitors.
The victory sends Kitara, champions of the 2023β2024 edition of the competition, into the Round of 16 where they join Kampala Capital City Authority FC.

KCCA also progressed after edging Mbarara City FC 1-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo. The decisive moment came through captain Filbert Obenchan, whose well-timed diving header proved enough to separate the two sides.
Interestingly, Kitara and Entebbe UPPC will renew their rivalry almost immediately. The two teams are scheduled to meet again next Tuesday, 3 March 2026, at Royal Park in Butema in a fixture from the Uganda Premier League.
The stakes remain high in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, as the eventual champion earns the honour of representing Uganda in the CAF Confederation Cup.
