Uganda Premier League side Mbarara City FC have bolstered their engine room with the capture of midfielder Ian Amanya, who has put pen to paper on a two-year deal after leaving Lugazi FC.

The 23-year-old is no stranger to Ugandan football circles, having first risen to prominence in the FUFA Big League, where he captained Karo Kalungi and impressed with his maturity beyond his years. His subsequent switch to Lugazi allowed him to sharpen his craft, and his consistent performances last season in the Uganda Premier League earned him a reputation as a dependable figure in the middle of the park.

At his unveiling, Amanya expressed delight at joining the Ankole Lions. “I am ready for this new chapter of my life,” he said. “I am here to help the club fulfill its dreams but also mine as a player. I will give everything on the pitch to make sure we succeed together.”

Mbarara City officials were equally upbeat about their new addition, describing Amanya as a calm yet industrious midfielder who reads the game well and thrives in demanding situations. They believe his tactical intelligence and top-flight exposure will inject both balance and ambition into the side’s push for a stronger league campaign.

The signing underscores Mbarara City’s intent to strengthen key areas of their squad as they look to climb higher on the table and establish themselves among the league’s most competitive outfits.
