Ugandan international and playmaker Travis Mutyaba has laid his goals bare, targeting success and continental football, following his unveiling at Tunisian top-flight side and powerhouse CS Sfaxien.

While the deal was wrapped up weeks back, the 19-year-old was officially unveiled in the concluding week on a three-year employment contract. His most recent spell was with French side Girondins Bordeaux.

In his maiden interview at CS Sfaxien, Mutyaba was quick to underline his desire to play in the coveted CAF Champions League.

“I am here to make our fans happy with great performances, together with my teammates, as we want to play in the CAF Champions League,” he told CS Sfaxien media (CSS TV). That’s the target as a player and as a club. The club had a good vision for me and my career, so as a player I decided to join and I’m happy here,” he added.

“There are a number of good players here such as Ali Maaloul, Firas Sakouhi, Ben Ali. It’s a very good group of people. I’m looking forward to a new challenge and we’re ready to compete in the championship.”

Meanwhile, at Bordeaux last campaign, Mutyaba, made 24 appearances across the League and the Coupe de France. He also made three appearances with the reserves team, scoring one goal with an assist.

In his former team Zamalek of Egypt, he won the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup. In the past, he played for record Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa, the Vipers Junior Team, Synergy in the Futsal competition, Bulemeezi in the Buganda Masaza Cup, as well as Gombe High School and St. Mary’s Secondary School, Kitende.

Internationally, Mutyaba has risen through various national team ranks, playing at the U15, U17, U20 and U23 levels, as well as the senior team, the Uganda Cranes. Since his debut with the latter in 2021, he has contributed three goals and three assists in 28 competitive caps.
