NEC return to the MTN Omondi Stadium on Tuesday determined to halt their early-season slump when they welcome a struggling Calvary side rooted to the bottom of the log.
It has been a turbulent opening phase for Badru Kadduโs tenure, with the club registering just a single victory in six outings and still searching for their first win under the new coach after he stepped in for Hussein Mbalangu. Despite the rough patch, the hosts enter this clash as heavy favourites against a Calvary outfit that has collected only one point all season.
Calvaryโs misery has deepened in recent weeks, having suffered consecutive home defeats to Entebbe UPPC and UPDF, leaving them desperate for a turning point.
Kaddu, though candid about NECโs shaky start, remains optimistic that the team can still hit their ambitious first-round target.
โThe players are trainable and ready to learn,โ Kaddu stated. โFor now, we have to start winning games and our target is to finish the first round with 33 points and then talk about being in the title race.โ
NEC currently sit 12th on 6 points, holding a five-point cushion over Calvary, who anchor the standings.
Elsewhere on Tuesday, record champions SC Villa head to Bombo to take on UPDF, while Maroons entertain Lugazi at Luzira.
