SC Villa snatched their first victory of the season in breathtaking fashion, overturning a first-half deficit to defeat Police FC 2-1 at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Friday.
The Jogoos looked headed for another frustrating evening until substitutes Charles Lwanga and Geoffrey Gagganga turned the game on its head in a thrilling second-half display.
Police drew first blood in the 22nd minute through Congolese striker Bedia Djuma Ikambi, who nodded home a fine cross from Denis Kalanzi. The winger dazzled his way past two Villa defenders on the flank before delivering a teasing ball that Ikambi expertly guided beyond goalkeeper Bruno Ssenkayi.

Villa nearly responded before the break when Ibrahim Kasinde broke through on goal, but his low strike was brilliantly smothered by Police custodian Mathias Muwanga, keeping the Cops in front at halftime.
Head coach Dusan Stojanovic shuffled his pack after the interval, introducing Gagganga and Lwanga for Kasinde and Aslam Ssemakula, a decision that would ultimately define the contest.
The equaliser arrived in the 70th minute courtesy of Gagganga’s awareness and precision. Goalkeeper Muwanga had rushed off his line in a failed attempt to clear a long ball, leaving his net unattended. Gagganga pounced on the loose ball and sent a composed finish rolling into the empty goal to level matters.
With time running out, and the scoreboard still tied, Villa’s persistence was rewarded deep into stoppage time. A defensive lapse from Richard Matovu proved costly for Police as he misjudged a clearance, allowing Lwanga to seize the moment. The forward calmly chipped the advancing Muwanga to seal all three points for the Jogoos in dramatic fashion.
