Badru Kaddu’s first day on the NEC FC touchline didn’t end with the celebration he hoped for. Instead, it was Jerome Kiirya who stole a slice of the spotlight, striking deep in first-half stoppage time to drag BUL FC level in a 1-1 battle at Lugogo.

NEC had looked sharp early on, finding their breakthrough in the 27th minute when Joseph Dhata finished off a crisp move to ignite the home crowd. But BUL, stubborn as ever this season, refused to fold. Kiirya ghosted into space just before the half-time whistle and tucked away the equalizer that ultimately sealed the contest.

That single moment ensured BUL’s remarkable unbeaten streak in the 2025 Uganda Premier League lives on. They’ve now stretched their run to 23 league games without tasting defeat, 25 in total since last falling 2-0 to UPDF in December 2024.

The point pushes BUL to fourth place on 10 points, sitting snugly between SC Villa and Entebbe UPPC on goal difference. NEC, still struggling to stitch together a consistent run, remain stuck in 12th with only six points from five outings.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Lugazi offered the day’s fireworks. The hosts unleashed a relentless 5-2 beating on newly promoted Buhimba United Saints, snapping a winless spell that dated back to match day one.

David Bagoole, Abdul Kalanzi, and Dawson Mafumu all etched their names on the scoresheet, but Freedom Mungudit stole the show with a well-taken brace. Buhimba’s response came through Sadick Moro and an unfortunate own goal by Richard Ayiko, but the damage had long been done.

It marked Buhimba’s third straight setback, a rough patch that has seen them ship 11 goals after starting the season with three wins on the bounce. They slide down to sixth on nine points, while Lugazi rise to ninth with eight.
