URA FC progressed to the Round of 16 of the 2026 Stanbic Uganda Cup after overcoming Blacks Power FC in a tense penalty shootout on Wednesday evening.

The encounter, staged at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo, ended goalless in regulation time before the Tax Collectors held their nerve to claim a 6-5 victory in the shootout and secure their place in the next round.

What a way to announce yourself, Bright Joseph Vuni! Rock-solid, fearless, and ice-cold at the back. A commanding performance against @BlacksPowerFC , capped off with a well-deserved Man of the Match on his first appearance since returning from loan at @UPPC_FC .#URAFC |… pic.twitter.com/jPyxMCuc84

Despite dominating stretches of the match, URA were unable to find the breakthrough during the 90 minutes. Their closest opportunity arrived when Joseph Semujju unleashed a powerful strike that crashed against the crossbar, leaving the Blacks Power defence breathing a sigh of relief.

Moments later, Olimi Nyarwa nearly broke the deadlock with a curling effort, but the shot drifted just wide after striking the right goalpost.

With neither side able to separate themselves, the referee signalled for penalties to determine the winner.

URA converted their spot kicks through Nyarwa, Hudu Mulikyi, Moses Aliro, Fred Amaku, Bright Vuni. The decisive moment came when goalkeeper Martin Senkooto produced a crucial save to deny Godfrey Ssekibengo, sealing the Tax Collectors’ dramatic passage into the Round of 16.
