SC Villa’s disappointing start to the new Uganda Premier League campaign stretched on after they were held to a 1–1 draw by Entebbe UPPC FC at the FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, a match overshadowed by a continued fan boycott in protest against the league’s new format and reforms.
The record champions, still in search of their first win of the season, found it hard to break down a resilient UPPC side in front of a noticeably thin crowd.
The usually vibrant Kadiba atmosphere was missing, as large sections of Villa supporters stayed away to express their frustration with recent structural changes introduced by the FUFA and league organizers.

On the pitch, the Jogoos looked sluggish for long spells and fell behind in the 28th minute when Fazil Tumwine pounced on a defensive lapse to hand the visitors the lead. It took until the 83rd minute for Villa to find a response, with Andrew Otim converting to spare the hosts from another defeat.
The draw gives Villa their first point of the campaign, having missed the opening matchday, while UPPC rise to four points from three games following a win over Lugazi and a loss to Buhimba.
However, the spotlight remained firmly on the empty stands rather than the scoreline, a stark reminder of the growing tension between supporters and administrators over the new league reforms that many fans say have stripped the competition of its traditional appeal.
