With the 2025/26 season fast approaching, Vipers SC have lined up a series of high-profile friendlies to sharpen their claws ahead of a demanding campaign, according to the teams’ official website.
The Venoms will first welcome Rwanda’s Gorilla FC for two back-to-back clashes at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, next Tuesday and Thursday. Head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert will use the double-header to assess his squad’s cohesion and fitness levels after weeks of training.
Once those tests are complete, attention will turn to a stern challenge against Tanzanian heavyweights Azam FC on August 29th at the Kigali Pele Stadium. Renowned as one of East Africa’s toughest sides, Azam are expected to push Vipers to their competitive limits — a perfect dress rehearsal for the battles ahead.
That fixture will act as the final tune-up before Vipers head to Dar es Salaam for the CECAFA Kagame Cup, running from September 2nd to 15th and featuring 12 teams from across the region.
Minnaert’s side is bracing for a packed season, with commitments in the Uganda Premier League, Uganda Cup, CECAFA Kagame Cup, FUFA Super 8, Super Cup, and the prestigious CAF Champions League. Every minute of pre-season action will count as they prepare to compete on all fronts.
