Hugely experienced defensive midfielder Taddeo Lwanga has completed a return to seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC, pending official unveiling.
Tj, who has been a free agent following his exit from Rwandan giants APR FC, has penned a two-year employment contract with the Venoms.
The agreement and subsequent unveiling come after he impressed head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert during his three-week pre-season training with the domestic double champions.
Since his exit in 2019, the former skipper has enjoyed stints at Egypt’s Tanta FC, Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC, Djibouti’s Artar/Solar7 as well as at his most recent side, APR.
With the latter, he left as a two-time Rwanda Premier League champion. He is also a former league champion with Simba, and Vipers in the 2017/18 campaign. Vipers will hope he rubs this winning mentality to the rest of the team.
Meanwhile, Lwanga is a full Ugandan international, who also played an astounding role in helping Uganda return to Africa Cup of Nations for the 2025 edition after missing out in 2021 and 2023. He was a key figure in the team that reached the Round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019 in Egypt.
