KCCA FC endured a humbling 2-0 loss to Police FC at the Kira Road Arena on Tuesday, a result that threatens to derail their early-season title ambitions in the Uganda Premier League.
After a flat first half with few meaningful chances, Police FC found the breakthrough in the 52nd minute. Brian Obedi volleyed home following a precise header from Dennis Kalanzi, giving the hosts the lead. The momentum only grew, and Police doubled their advantage later in the half when Kalanzi again assisted, heading the ball for Bedia Ikamba to tap into an open net.
KCCA head coach Brian Ssenyondo did not hold back in assessing his team’s performance, calling it “substandard” and attributing the defeat to complacency.
“We didn’t play football,” Ssenyondo said bluntly. “They were better in everything, they won everything, first balls, second balls, 50-50s. If you allow the opponent to do that, you’re bound to lose.”

On why the team underperformed, Ssenyondo added:
“I think complacency. I think they thought the league was won after winning five games on the bounce.”
He went on to stress the long haul required to win the league.
“The league is won with the last game in May, you can’t win the league in five matches. This kind of performance is unacceptable, we should do better. We had to present ourselves well, and we did not do that today. We just came to play around, and we should not represent the club like this. It should be the last time we represent the club like this. It doesn’t matter who starts on the day,” he concluded.
The defeat marks KCCA FC’s second loss of the season, following an earlier setback to Vipers SC, leaving them second in the standings with 26 points, one behind leaders Vipers SC, who have played a game less.
For Police FC, the win was a statement of intent, signaling their potential to disrupt the top of the table this season.
