Kitara FC delivered a commanding statement performance to storm into the quarterfinals of the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup, dismantling Berger United with a resounding 6-0 victory.

Kitara turned their home ground at Royals Park in Butema into a fortress on Wednesday producing a clinical and dominant display from start to finish.

The hosts wasted no time asserting control. First-half strikes from Gadafi Wahab, who calmly converted from the penalty spot, alongside goals from Jimmy Kalema and Samuel Kato Nemeyimana, effectively put the contest beyond reach before the break.

The second half offered no relief for the visitors as Kitara maintained their attacking intensity. Benjamin Nyakoojo, George Ssenkaaba, and Living Kabon all found the net to complete a ruthless rout that underlined the club’s serious ambitions in this year’s competition.

Former champions from 2023, Kitara now advance to the last eight, joining fellow top-flight sides KCCA FC and NEC FC, as well as surprise package Happy Boyz Kagaba from the third division.

Elsewhere, NEC FC secured their quarterfinal berth with a composed 2-0 win over Lugazi FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo. Gideon Odongo opened the scoring before January signing Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo sealed the victory.

At the same venue, KCCA FC produced an equally emphatic performance, thrashing Onduparaka FC 5-0 under the floodlights. Emmanuel Anyama led the charge with a brace, while Saidi Mayanja, Alex Yiga, and Sammy Tebandeke each added their names to the scoresheet.

In Kassanda, Happy Boyz Kagaba edged past Six O’Clock FC in a tense encounter that required penalties to separate the two sides. After a goalless stalemate in normal time, Kagaba held their nerve to triumph 5-4 in the shootout at Kagaba Primary School playgrounds.

With the quarterfinal lineup taking shape, attention now turns to the official draw, which will be conducted under the supervision of the FUFA Competitions Department.

Beyond domestic glory, the stakes remain high, whoever lifts the Uganda Cup will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.
