Uganda Premier League outfit Lugazi FC have bolstered their attacking options with the capture of forward Umar Kyebatala in the ongoing mid-season transfer window.
The club sealed the move on a two-year contract, with the announcement made through Lugazi’s official communication channels.
“We are delighted to announce the signing of Umar Kyebatala from Mbale Heroes FC,” the statement partly reads.
Kyebatala arrives as a highly-rated young attacker whose career momentum has been repeatedly checked by a series of injuries that limited his ability to string together consistent runs of games. When fit, however, he is regarded as a lively and direct forward capable of troubling defences with his pace and movement.
The 21-year-old made the move to Mbale Heroes in 2024 from Maroons FC, spending roughly 18 months with the Mbale-based side before completing a switch to the Leaders for the remainder of the current campaign.
Kyebatala’s football journey began at school level, featuring for Kibuli Secondary School and St Mary’s Kitende, two institutions renowned for nurturing top Ugandan talent.
His early promise earned him a brief spell at Vipers SC in 2019, where he gained exposure to top-flight football at a young age.
Lugazi FC will be hoping the change of scenery provides Kyebatala with the stability and fitness he needs to finally unlock his potential and add fresh spark to their frontline in the second half of the season.
