Former Kawempe South MP and presidential aspirant Mubarak Munyagwa has showered glowing praise on Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, describing the Vipers SC president and ex-FUFA boss as the cornerstone of Uganda’s modern sports development.

Munyagwa said Dr. Mulindwa’s selfless service and unwavering commitment to football have left an indelible mark on the country’s sporting landscape. He credited the educationist-turned-sports administrator for laying the groundwork upon which Uganda’s football success continues to thrive.

“Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa’s contribution to sports, especially football, is unmatched. He has invested a lot of money without expecting any returns, yet he continues to build a strong foundation that will benefit Uganda for years to come,” Munyagwa remarked.

The outspoken politician highlighted that the progress witnessed under the current FUFA leadership traces its roots back to Mulindwa’s visionary reforms and meticulous structuring of the game during his tenure.

“Magogo is excelling today because of the strong base Dr. Mulindwa created,” Munyagwa emphasized.

Dr. Mulindwa, who steered FUFA from 2005 to 2013, is credited with revolutionizing football management in Uganda. His era ushered in new administrative professionalism, enhanced youth football pathways, and birthed the renowned St. Mary’s Kitende, now a breeding ground for the country’s finest young talents.

Munyagwa concluded by lauding Mulindwa’s enduring influence, noting that his foresight continues to inspire the next generation of sports leaders.

“He built the foundation we stand on,” he said, “and Ugandan football will forever owe him gratitude.”
