KCCA FC head into Wednesday’s away assignment against Maroons FC with bruised pride and renewed urgency, after co-coach Brian Ssenyondo delivered a stern message in the aftermath of their setback against Police FC.
The Kasasiro Boys’ stumble last time out did more than dent confidence, it disrupted their push at the summit of the Uganda Premier League. That lapse has now turned the Luzira showdown into a defining moment, as KCCA seek to reassert their credentials against one of the division’s most rugged and uncompromising outfits.
Ssenyondo, addressing the media ahead of the trip, pulled no punches in his assessment of the Police defeat, stressing that the response must be immediate and emphatic if KCCA are to stay in the title conversation.
“The performance in our last outing was unacceptable for a club of this stature,” he told the pre-match press briefing. “We have informed the players that we cannot represent KCCA FC in that manner again.”
The task ahead is far from straightforward. Maroons’ Luzira base has earned a reputation as one of the league’s most hostile venues, where physicality, discipline and patience are constantly tested. Yet Ssenyondo insists his side has used the setback as a learning moment, sharpening both mentality and execution in preparation for the challenge:
“Luzira is never an easy place to visit, but we have worked on our game management, and we are going there to fight for every ball and ensure we bring something positive back to Lugogo.”
Recent meetings between the two clubs suggest another tight affair is on the cards. The balance has been remarkably even, with three of the last five league encounters ending in draws and neither side managing to establish clear dominance, a pattern that underscores just how little separates them.

KCCA will, however, travel with a measure of encouragement on the team news front. Forward Emmanuel Anyama is available again after serving a suspension, while defender Peter Magambo returns to the squad following injury. The only lingering concerns remain Joao Gabriel and Ettiene Katenga, who are still working their way back to full fitness.
Elsewhere in the league on Wednesday, UPDF will entertain Entebbe UPPC, while Police FC host Calvary FC as the season’s rhythm begins to intensify.
