The Uganda Premier League roars back into life on Thursday with Kitara FC out to maintain their growing dominance over Maroons FC when the two sides collide at Luzira Prison Grounds.
Since suffering defeat in their maiden top-flight meeting back in 2023, the Royals have turned the fixture into a one-sided affair, stringing together three consecutive victories over the Prison Warders. That recent history has tilted the psychological edge firmly in Kitara’s favour as they head into this latest showdown brimming with confidence.
Wasswa Bbosa’s side were comfortable 2-0 winners in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign, with Patrick Kaddu helping himself to both goals. The former Maroons forward is once again expected to spearhead the Royals’ attack, with familiar knowledge of the hosts’ defensive tendencies likely to be a key weapon.

Kitara arrive at Luzira riding a strong wave of form, having collected three wins from their last four league outings. Sitting fifth on 29 points, another victory could propel them into second place on the standings, significantly boosting their push up the table as the season enters a decisive phase.
Maroons, meanwhile, find themselves searching for a spark after a difficult run. The Prison Warders are without a win in their last four league matches and currently occupy ninth place with 18 points. A positive result at home would not only halt their slump but also lift them to 21 points and potentially into seventh position, offering a much-needed lift in morale.
Elsewhere on Thursday, Police FC welcome Lugazi to the Police Arena in Kamwokya, while Mbarara City will be in front of their home fans as they entertain Calvary in another intriguing league encounter.
