Czech Republic side Sigma Olomouc have secured the services of one of Uganda’s most promising young forwards, completing the transfer of 20-year-old striker John Paul Dembe from Swedish outfit BK Häcken.
The highly rated attacker has already linked up with his new teammates and is currently embedded in the club’s training camp in Spain, where he has begun preparations ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Dembe arrives in Olomouc as a player on the rise, eager to embrace a new challenge in Central Europe after gaining valuable experience in Scandinavia and on the continental stage.
“I’m happy to be here and that I’m already a Sigma player. I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and joining the training. I’m excited that a club with such ambitions as Sigma has reached out to me. It’s another important step in my career,” said Sigma’s new attacking acquisition.
Focused and driven, the young striker has made it clear that he sees this move as an opportunity to grow and contribute meaningfully to the team’s objectives.
“My goal is to work hard, continue to improve and help the team as best I can. I believe that together we will be successful,” added John Paul Dembe.

From the club’s perspective, Dembe represents both immediate depth and long-term promise. Sigma’s leadership believes his blend of youth, experience, and attacking instinct aligns perfectly with their sporting vision.
“He is an interesting player who meets our expectations . Despite his youth, he already has experience from the Swedish top league and European cups. We see great potential in him, especially for the future. We believe that he will do well with us and help us fulfill our ambitions,” said Sigma’s general sports manager Pavel Hapal.
Born on July 3, 2005, in Kampala, Dembe began his football journey at KCCA FC, one of Uganda’s most respected academies. His talent quickly propelled him beyond local borders, earning a move to Häcken in 2023.
During his time in Sweden, he continued his development, including a short loan spell at second-division side Oddevold in the spring of 2024.
Dembe’s stint with Häcken proved fruitful. He was part of the squad that lifted the Swedish Cup in the 2024/25 season and made his mark in European competition. Across Europa League and Conference League appearances, he featured in 10 matches, finding the net four times during qualifying rounds and the league phase. He also logged minutes in the Swedish Allsvenskan during the 2025 season.
On the international stage, Dembe has been equally prolific. Representing Uganda at under-20 level, he boasts an impressive return of seven goals in seven appearances, underlining his reputation as a natural finisher.
