Ugandan footballers plying their trade across Europe, Africa and Asia produced an array of impressive performances over the weekend, with several national team players playing pivotal roles for their clubs in league and continental action.
Leading the headlines was midfielder Ronald Ssekiganda, who delivered a standout performance in Rwanda. The energetic midfielder not only lasted the entire match but also got on the scoresheet as APR FC cruised to a convincing 2-0 triumph over Musanze FC in the Rwandan top-flight.
Ssekiganda controlled proceedings in midfield with maturity and composure, capping off his impressive display with a well-taken goal that helped APR tighten their hold at the top of the league standings.

Fellow Ugandan international Denis Omedi also featured for the Kigali-based side during the encounter.
In England, defender Toby Sibbick was a commanding presence at the back as Burton Albion secured a solid 2-0 victory against Northampton Town in the EFL League One.
The centre-back completed the full match, producing a disciplined defensive display that helped his side maintain a clean sheet.
Elsewhere in North Africa, striker Steven Mukwala continued his rich vein of form in the Libyan Premier League. The forward found the back of the net as Al Nasr Benghazi claimed a 2-0 win over Al-Afriqi Benghazi. Mukwala’s strike was his third goal in four matches, further cementing his growing influence in the team’s attacking setup.
Defender Bevis Mugabi also saw significant action in England, featuring for Carlisle United in their EFL League Two clash against Tamworth FC. Mugabi played 92 minutes before being withdrawn late in the contest as Carlisle narrowly fell to a 2-1 defeat.
In Tanzania, Ugandan playmaker Allan Okello was involved in one of East Africa’s most anticipated fixtures as Young Africans SC faced rivals Azam FC in the Dar es Salaam derby. The tightly contested encounter ended in a goalless draw, though Okello provided moments of creativity and attacking spark throughout the match.

Romania also saw Ugandan involvement as Alhassan Baba featured for FCSB, playing 61 minutes in their stalemate against FC Metaloglobus București in Liga I.
However, game time proved harder to come by for some Ugandan players in Scotland. Forward Rogers Mato was an unused substitute as Heart of Midlothian suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.
Meanwhile, striker Uche Ikpeazu was introduced late from the bench, making a brief 21-minute appearance in Ross County’s 1-0 defeat against St Johnstone.
In the Czech Republic, left-back Aziz Kayondo remained on the sidelines for the second successive match as Slovan Liberec played out a 1-1 draw with FK Teplice.
Across Southeast Asia, Melvyn Lorenzen made a short appearance off the bench for Muangthong United, featuring for just two minutes as his side edged Uthai Thani FC 1-0 in Thai League 1 action.
Meanwhile, striker Calvin Kabuye played the full match for Finnish outfit Kuopion Palloseura during their friendly victory against IFK Mariehamn.

Veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango was also part of the matchday squad for Mamelodi Sundowns but did not see action as the South African champions recorded an emphatic 3-0 win over Stade Malien in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.
From decisive goals to disciplined defensive displays, Ugandan players once again left their mark across multiple leagues and competitions, highlighting the growing presence of the nation’s football talent on the global stage.
