Calvary FC has officially severed ties with head coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera, bringing an abrupt end to a turbulent spell at the newly promoted Uganda Premier League side.

The club announced the development on Monday, November 10, 2025, releasing a brief statement across its social media channels confirming the departure.

“The club has mutually agreed to part ways with Head Coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera,” the statement partly reads. “We extend our sincere appreciation to Coach Kintu for his contributions during his tenure and wish him success in his future endeavours,” the statement added.

Behind the formal tone, however, lies a deeper fracture. Sources indicate Kintu had already stepped aside after growing increasingly frustrated with the club’s chronic delays in paying salaries.

According to a person close to the team, both players and technical staff have endured four months without wages, a situation that has strained morale and made daily work nearly impossible.

On the pitch, Calvary’s debut in the top flight has been unforgiving. After five matches, the Yumbe-based side has collected just a single point, losing four times and drawing once. They will attempt to reset under interim leadership when they face UPDF on Wednesday, November 19.

Kintu’s departure makes him the second coaching casualty of the early UPL season, following Hussein Mbalangu’s dismissal from NEC Football Club.
