Police FC’s growing authority in the Uganda Premier League was emphatically underlined on Wednesday evening as they swept aside Calvary 2-0 at the Kira Road Police Arena to register a third successive league win.

Fuelled by confidence and roared on by a vibrant home crowd, the Cops delivered a disciplined and determined performance that once again highlighted their title credentials in the 2025–26 campaign.

The hosts signalled their intent early on, with Brian Obedi forcing action in the 18th minute. His initial effort was pushed away by the Calvary goalkeeper, only for Ikamba Bedia to pounce on the rebound, an attempt quickly chalked off for offside.

The tempo of the match was briefly disrupted following a heavy collision involving Obedi and Calvary defender Junior Emmanuel, resulting in a prolonged stoppage as both players received medical attention. Despite the interruption, the contest remained evenly balanced, with both sides fashioning half-chances but failing to find a breakthrough before the interval.

After the restart, Police gradually tightened their grip on proceedings, pressing higher and committing more bodies forward. Their persistence finally paid dividends in the 73rd minute when Obedi rose highest to glance a sublime header into the net, expertly connecting with Richard Matovu’s inch-perfect free kick.

Moments later, misfortune struck the goalscorer, who was forced off on a stretcher due to injury and replaced by Ramsey Jemba. However, Police’s momentum did not wane.

Deep into stoppage time, Umar Kasumba applied the finishing touch to seal the result. The veteran forward reacted quickest inside the box, steering home Jemba’s shot after it ricocheted off the goal frame to put the contest beyond doubt.

The victory propels Police FC to the top of the league standings with 27 points, capping off an impressive run of form. For Calvary, the defeat compounds a miserable campaign, leaving them rooted to the foot of the table with just three points to their name.
