Ugandan footballers scattered across Europe, Africa and North America were once again at the heart of action over the weekend, with several players turning in notable performances for their respective clubs.
From decisive goals in the Czech Republic and South Sudan to appearances in England, Scotland, Tanzania, Tunisia, Egypt and the United States, the Ugandan contingent enjoyed another busy spell across the global football landscape.
England
In the Championship, Portsmouth handed Ryan Kavuma McQueen a starting berth and remained on the pitch for 63 minutes before being withdrawn as his side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Bristol City on Friday.

At The Valley, Nathan Asiimwe had to wait until the dying embers of the contest before being summoned from the bench. The Uganda international entered in the 90th minute as Charlton Athletic secured a narrow 1-0 triumph over Preston North End.
Divine Mukasa was also involved in Championship action, featuring for 65 minutes as West Ham United were beaten 1-0 by Watford.
In League One, Toby Sibbick was an ever-present figure for Burton Albion, completing the full 90 minutes despite his side falling to a 2-1 home defeat against Notts County.

Scotland
In the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, Jordan Obita turned in a full-match performance for Hibernian, helping them negotiate a closely fought encounter against Dundee FC. Hibernian eventually emerged 2-1 winners.
The Scottish Championship also witnessed Ugandan involvement, with Allan Oyirwoth featuring for 85 minutes as Dunfermline Athletic edged Raith Rovers 1-0 on Friday.
Tanzania
In the NBC Premier League, Hassan Mubiru came off the bench in the second half for Azam FC as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Geita Gold on Friday.

Egypt
Kenneth Semakula featured for 63 minutes in Al Ittihad Alexandria’s encounter with Ceramica Cleopatra. His side, however, endured a difficult outing, going down 3-1 on Friday.
Tunisia
There was a busy weekend for Ugandan players in Tunisia’s Ligue 1.
Rayn Figo Kizito entered the fray in the 80th minute for Hammam Sousse, but could not help his side avoid a narrow 1-0 defeat to Club Africain.
At CS Sfaxien, Travis Mutyaba played the entire match while fellow Ugandan Hakim Mutebi was introduced in the 82nd minute. Their contributions came as Sfaxien secured a 2-1 victory over ES Zarzis.

Czech Republic
One of the weekend’s standout individual performances came from the Czech Republic, where Aziz Kayondo delivered a match-winning contribution for Slovan Liberec. The Ugandan defender completed the full 90 minutes and found the back of the net as Liberec registered an impressive 2-0 victory over Hradec Kralove.
Kayondo’s goal added an attacking flourish to an otherwise commanding defensive display, making him one of the weekend’s brightest Ugandan performers abroad.
South Sudan
In the South Sudan Premier League, Jude Ssemugabi was the difference-maker for Jamus SC, producing a prolific display in front of goal.
The Ugandan striker struck twice as Jamus SC defeated Al Ghazala SC 3-1, underlining his importance to the club’s attacking ambitions.
United States
In the USL Championship, Noble Okello completed the full match for Lexington but was unable to prevent his team from slipping to a 2-1 defeat against New Mexico United.

Meanwhile, Bobosi Byaruhanga featured for 16 minutes for Oakland Roots in their 1-1 stalemate with Orange County. The Ugandan midfielder was also booked during his brief spell on the pitch.
From Europe to Africa and across the Atlantic, the weekend once again showcased the growing footprint of Ugandan footballers beyond the country’s borders, with Kayondo and Ssemugabi particularly catching the eye through their goalscoring exploits.
