URA head coach Hussein Mbalangu has thrown down the gauntlet to his players ahead of a critical Uganda Premier League showdown with Calvary, insisting that past achievements and club stature count for nothing in the face of their current struggles.

The Tax Collectors make the long trip to Midigo Primary School on Tuesday for the penultimate fixture of the first round, with both sides desperate for a turnaround.

League newcomers Calvary are anchored to the foot of the table with a meagre three points, but URAโ€™s situation is hardly reassuring, as their recent collapse has dragged them into the same danger zone.

Speaking to club media, Mbalangu dismissed any notion that URAโ€™s experience gives them an automatic edge, urging his team to confront the reality of their form.

โ€œWe canโ€™t take anything for granted at the moment,โ€ he stated to the club media. โ€œAt the moment, we are in the same category with Calvary because both of us have not won in five matches,โ€ he explained.

URA head into the contest still reeling from a bruising 3-0 loss to champions Vipers, a defeat that marked their fifth straight league game without a single point. That run stands as the worst active streak in the division and has sharply increased pressure around the club.

Although URA sit on 11 points, their cushion is paper-thin. A cluster of teams lurk just below them, meaning any further slip could plunge the Tax Collectors deeper into relegation trouble and heighten scrutiny of both players and technical staff.

On paper, URA may still be labelled favourites. On the pitch, however, recent evidence suggests otherwise. With confidence fragile and momentum firmly against them, Tuesdayโ€™s clash is shaping up as a battle where hunger, discipline, and urgency will outweigh reputation, and where failure is simply not an option.
