SC Villa booked their place in the quarterfinals of the 52nd Uganda Cup with a narrow but hard-fought 1-0 victory over Maroons FC under the lights at the FUFA Stadium, Kadiba on Thursday evening.
In a tightly contested Round of 16 encounter, clear-cut chances were few and far between as both sides battled for control. Just when the game seemed destined for extra time, forward Andrew Otim stepped up to make the difference.
With ten minutes remaining on the clock, Otim pounced on a defensive lapse from Simon Tamale, who failed to properly deal with a low delivery from Charles Lwanga. The striker reacted quickest, slotting home the decisive goal to send the Jogoos faithful into celebration.
FT.
Andrew Otim’s effort just enough.
