Express FC delivered a stunning late surge to defeat Police FC 3-1 under the floodlights at Hamz Stadium, turning a tightly contested encounter into a memorable triumph in the Uganda Premier League.
What appeared headed for a stalemate exploded into life in the closing minutes, as Express found an extra gear to snatch all three points in emphatic fashion.
Police had earlier drawn first blood through their skipper Saidi Kyeyune, whose sublime strike midway through the first half briefly put the visitors in control. The move was crafted by Charles Bbaale, whose precise cutback set up Kyeyune to fire home in the 31st minute.
However, the lead barely lasted. Just two minutes later, Yosia Kisa rose highest to nod in an equalizer, restoring parity and setting the tone for an evenly matched contest.
The opening exchanges had already hinted at a lively affair. Police started on the front foot, with Bbaale testing the Express defense early, while goalkeeper Edward Kasibante was quickly called into action to deal with dangerous deliveries from Mikidadi Ssenyonga and Amos Muwonge.

Both sides traded attacking moments, with Samuel Kayongo and Lawrence Tezikya probing for Police, while Marvin Nyanzi and John Asiimwe pushed forward for Express.
Despite the intensity, neither team could find a breakthrough before Kyeyune’s opener.
The first half closed with chances at both ends, Kyeyune’s free-kick comfortably handled by Khassim Hafizi, and Tezikya denied after a neat setup by Bedia Ikamba, leaving the score tied at 1-1 heading into the break.
After restart, the tempo remained high, but finishing proved elusive. Kyeyune nearly turned provider again, floating in a dangerous free-kick that narrowly missed connection, while Kenneth Kimera and Sula Mpanga had efforts that failed to trouble the scoreline.
Police looked the more threatening as the second half wore on, with Tezikya coming agonizingly close, only for defender Marvin Wambuga to produce a crucial goal-line clearance with the keeper beaten.
Substitutions from both benches injected fresh energy, but it was Express who would seize the decisive moment.
With just minutes left on the clock, Wambuga turned from defender to creator, launching a long ball that deceived Kasibante. Substitute Henry Wamala reacted quickest, racing through to slot into an empty net and give Express the lead. His celebration earned him a booking, but the damage was done.
Moments later, Police were caught completely exposed. Another direct ball found Kimera unmarked, and he made no mistake, driving a low shot beyond Kasibante to seal the contest deep into stoppage time.
From a tense deadlock to a commanding 3-1 victory, Express showcased clinical finishing when it mattered most.

At full time, referee Nasser Muhammed Kirya’s whistle sparked jubilant celebrations from the home side, who had snatched victory from the jaws of a draw.
The result lifts Express to 10th place with 26 points from 22 matches, while Police remain sixth on 35 points after a night that slipped away in dramatic fashion.
Elsewhere, in an earlier fixture at Luzira Prisons Grounds, Maroons edged BUL 1-0 courtesy of Ivan Mayanja’s decisive strike.
