Ugandan midfielder Taddeo Lwanga has officially announced his departure from Vipers SC, drawing the curtain on a hugely successful second stint with the Uganda Premier League champions.
Lwanga shared the news in a heartfelt message on social media, expressing his appreciation to the club and its fans after playing a key role in Vipers’ title-winning campaign.
“Filled with gratitude and appreciation. Thank you, Venoms, for an unforgettable journey. Vipers will always be home to me and my family,” he wrote.
The 32-year-old leaves the Kitende-based side after an outstanding season in which he was instrumental in steering the Venoms to the league crown. His commanding performances, leadership and consistency in midfield also earned him the club’s coveted Player’s Player of the Season accolade, a testament to the admiration he enjoyed from his teammates.
During his return to Vipers, Lwanga brought composure, experience and tactical intelligence to the centre of the park, establishing himself as one of the team’s most influential figures throughout the championship-winning campaign.

The veteran midfielder is now widely expected to join Kenyan Premier League powerhouse AFC Leopards. Reports from both Uganda and Kenya indicate that an agreement has already been reached on a two-year contract, with an official announcement anticipated soon.
If the transfer is finalised, Lwanga will provide valuable experience and leadership as AFC Leopards strengthen their squad ahead of the new season in pursuit of major domestic honours.
Lwanga’s career has seen him feature for several prominent clubs across Africa, including SC Villa, Express FC, Simba SC in Tanzania and Egyptian outfit Tanta, while also representing the Uganda Cranes on the international stage.
As he bids farewell to Vipers once again, Lwanga departs as a league champion, a dressing-room leader and one of the standout performers of the season, leaving behind a lasting legacy of professionalism, dedication and success.
