URA FC are on the verge of bolstering their attacking ranks with the signing of experienced forward Muhammad Shaban, who is expected to arrive as a free agent on a two-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.
According to Footy-Uganda sources, the Tax Collectors have reached an agreement to bring in the vastly experienced striker following his recent departure from Kitara FC, where his contract was terminated by mutual consent after an injury-hit five-month spell.
Shaban’s time with the Uganda Cup holders never gathered momentum, as persistent fitness setbacks restricted his involvement and cut short what had initially been viewed as a promising move. Despite that frustrating chapter, URA believe the prolific frontman still possesses the pedigree and cutting edge that have defined his career for more than a decade.
The anticipated switch sees the Arua-born striker embark on yet another stop in a football journey that has traversed several clubs across Africa. He first captured national attention with Onduparaka FC before earning a move to KCCA FC, where his ruthless finishing established him among the most feared strikers in Ugandan football.
His exploits at KCCA paved the way for a landmark transfer to Moroccan powerhouse Raja Club Athletic in 2018. Since then, Shaban has worn the colours of Vipers SC, returned to Onduparaka for a second stint, enjoyed another spell at KCCA, featured for Ethiopian outfit Bunna FC, and joined Kitara in February 2026 before his premature exit.

The 28-year-old has also had a stint in Libya, while interest from Kenyan giants Gor Mahia FC has surfaced in previous transfer windows, underlining the reputation he continues to command across the region.
Should the deal be completed, URA will secure a striker with proven pedigree at both domestic and international level. The club will hope a change of environment allows Shaban to put his injury troubles behind him and rediscover the goalscoring instinct that once made him one of the Uganda Premier League’s most feared forwards.
For URA, the acquisition represents more than just added firepower.
