Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has vowed that his side will leave no stone unturned when they face Algeria in a decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night in Algiers.

After wrapping up their final training session in North Africa, the Belgian tactician exuded confidence in his squad’s mindset and preparation despite the demanding journey to North Africa.

“Our journey to Algeria took some time, but I’m very happy with how the players have responded. What I saw in training gives me a lot of confidence,” Put remarked. “The players are ready to give everything to make the people proud and to make themselves proud.”

Put, who has overseen a disciplined and improving Ugandan side throughout the qualifying campaign, insisted that the atmosphere at the Stade du 5 Juillet would not rattle his charges.

“It will be a big game in a full stadium with seventy thousand people, but I have full trust in this team. They’ve shown strong attitude and professionalism, and we believe in what we can achieve,” he noted, exuding calm assurance.

The coach also took a moment to appreciate the unwavering backing of Ugandan fans both at home and abroad.

“I want to thank our supporters. They always give us great energy. We ask them to remain positive as we go into this important match,” he added.

2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Algeria vs Uganda – Where to watch the match

Uganda enter the contest sitting second in Group G with 18 points, four adrift of group leaders Algeria. With only one automatic ticket available, the Cranes will need a spirited display in Algiers to strengthen their hopes of progressing as one of the best second-placed teams in the CAF World Cup qualifying race.

A result in the hostile North African cauldron could mark a defining moment in Uganda’s pursuit of a historic first-ever World Cup appearance.
