KCCA FC sent a loud message to their title rivals on Tuesday night, tearing UPDF FC apart in a one-sided 4-0 victory at the MTN–Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, to reignite a campaign that had briefly lost its spark.
Coming into the contest, the Kasasiro Boys were searching for answers. Consecutive slip-ups, a 2-0 loss to Police FC and an uninspiring draw against Maroons, had slowed their charge and surrendered top spot, leaving head coach Brian Ssenyondo under uncomfortable scrutiny. The response, however, was emphatic.
UPDF, a side that has traditionally struggled against KCCA, offered little resistance as the hosts produced one of their most dominant performances of the season, blending tempo, sharp movement and clinical finishing.

The warning signs appeared early. KCCA wasted no time imposing themselves and were deservedly ahead in the 11th minute when Sammy Ssebadduka applied the final touch to a flowing move, steering home Herbert Achayi’s inviting delivery.
With confidence flowing, KCCA dictated proceedings and stretched their advantage midway through the first half. Joel Sserunjogi calmly dispatched a penalty after Shafik Nana Kwikiriza was bundled over by Edward Saturo.
Although UPDF protested, replays suggested the foul may have occurred outside the box, the decision stood, leaving the visitors visibly deflated.
UPDF’s attacking threat was virtually non-existent. The absence of their top scorer Sam Ssekamatte, surprisingly left on the bench, left the army side blunt up front and easy to contain for the KCCA defence.
Any faint hopes of a revival after the interval were swiftly crushed. Just six minutes into the second half, Ssebadduka struck for a second time, showing composure in front of goal to make it 3-0 and effectively end the contest.
The night was capped in style when substitute Alpha Ssali marked his KCCA debut with a goal in stoppage time, delighting the Lugogo faithful and putting the finishing touch on a thoroughly commanding display.

The result propels KCCA back into the title conversation, lifting them to second place on 30 points, three adrift of leaders Vipers SC, who still hold a game in hand. The Venoms, meanwhile, underlined their own dominance with a resounding 4-1 win over Police FC, ensuring the championship battle remains as intense as ever.
