Ambrose Kigozi emerged as the difference-maker on Wednesday evening, firing Entebbe UPPC to a narrow but hard-earned 1-0 victory over UPDF in a lively Uganda Premier League clash at the Bombo Military Grounds.
Despite the slim margin, the contest was anything but cagey. Both sides played with intensity and ambition, producing a pulsating, end-to-end encounter that kept spectators on edge, even if the scoreboard reflected just a single goal.

UPDF nearly drew first blood inside the opening minute when Samuel Ssekamatte found himself with an open goal at his mercy, only to squander a golden opportunity that left the home supporters stunned.
That early let-off seemed to jolt UPPC into life, and within minutes Jonathan Gift tested Shamulan Kamya with a stinging effort, forcing the UPDF goalkeeper into an acrobatic fingertip save to concede a corner.
As the tempo remained high, UPDF continued to probe. Fifteen minutes in, Ssekamatte again threatened, but UPPC custodian Rogers Omedwa was alert, racing off his line to snuff out danger and deny the forward from close range.
Just as the first half appeared destined to end goalless, UPPC found their breakthrough. On the stroke of halftime, Ambrose Kigozi calmly finished a well-worked move, slotting the ball home to hand the visitors a crucial advantage heading into the interval.
UPDF attempted to mount a response after the restart, with Emmanuel Ocen and Ssekamatte combining neatly to slice through the UPPC defence early in the second half. However, the final touch once again deserted Ssekamatte, summing up the Army side’s frustrating afternoon in front of goal.
From then on, clear chances became scarce for the hosts. UPPC’s defensive unit tightened its grip on the match, standing resolute and organized to repel every UPDF advance as the clock ticked down.
The victory propels the Printers up to fifth place on the league table with 26 points, underlining their growing consistency this season. UPDF, meanwhile, remain stuck in 12th position, having amassed just 11 points from 13 league outings, with concerns mounting over their struggles in the final third.
