Defending champions Vipers SC delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday evening, dismantling Pajule Lions 6-0 to progress comfortably to the Round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The emphatic victory came under the floodlights at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende, where the hosts dominated proceedings from start to finish against the regional side.
Vipers wasted little time asserting their authority. Midfielder Karim Watambala opened the scoring in the sixth minute, smashing home from close range after latching onto an excellent long ball delivered by Rogers Torach.

The Venoms continued to pile on the pressure, and their persistence paid off again in the 20th minute. Usama Arafat doubled the advantage with a sharp snapshot that slipped past the Pajule Lions goalkeeper after the visitorsโ defence momentarily lost concentration.
Moments later, Milton Karisa came close to adding a third. The forward skillfully rounded the goalkeeper in the 25th minute, only for a recovering defender to clear his goal-bound effort off the line.
However, the third goal soon arrived. Watambala struck again in the 33rd minute to complete his brace, reacting quickest to a rebound after Nicholas Wadada rattled the woodwork. The midfielder calmly finished with a well-taken half volley to extend the hostsโ control.
Just before halftime, Karisa finally got his name on the scoresheet. The attacker curled in a straightforward free-kick after the Pajule Lions goalkeeper misjudged the positioning of his defensive wall, allowing Vipers to head into the break with a commanding four-goal cushion.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Vipers firmly in charge. Seven minutes after the restart, Karisa struck again to make it five, powering home after beating his marker and bringing down the ball with a delightful first touch.
The rout was completed in the closing stages when Gusto Mulongo capitalized on another dangerous delivery from Wadada. With three minutes remaining, Mulongo reacted quickest in the box to finish and seal a comprehensive 6-0 triumph.

The victory provides a timely boost for the Kitende-based outfit, who had drawn their previous two matches in the Uganda Premier League, and keeps their Uganda Cup title defence firmly on track.
