Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa has warned his teammates against complacency ahead of their Uganda Premier League clash with Calvary FC, stressing that league position alone does not guarantee an easy afternoon.
The Venoms welcome the relegation-threatened newcomers to St. Maryโs Stadium, Kitende on Saturday in a fixture that contrasts the divisionโs table-toppers with its bottom side. Despite the apparent imbalance, Karisa insists the champions are preparing for a hard battle.
โThereโs no weaker team in the League. We respect every team but donโt fear them… We expect a tough encounter since theyโre fighting relegation,โ Karisa told the club media.
Vipers head into the contest in confident mood after securing consecutive away victories against Mbarara City FC and UPDF FC, a run that has reinforced their grip on first place in the standings. Another three points on Saturday would allow them to stretch their lead at the summit back to four points.

However, memories of the reverse fixture serve as a reminder that Calvary are capable of causing problems. The newly promoted side frustrated the defending champions earlier this season, earning a stubborn goalless draw when the teams met at Midigo Primary School Grounds.
While the Venoms have built momentum in recent weeks, Calvary continue to battle for survival. The newcomers are still chasing their first victory of the campaign and have accumulated only five points so far, leaving them anchored at the bottom as they attempt to avoid an immediate drop back to the lower division.
For Vipers, several players have been central to their recent success. Midfielder Karim Watambala has dictated the tempo in the middle of the park, while forward Usama Arafat has provided a spark in the final third. Captain Karisa and striker Chukwuma Odili are also expected to shoulder much of the attacking responsibility as the hosts pursue another crucial result.
