Nine-time Uganda Cup champions KCCA return to familiar territory at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, where they lock horns with Onduparaka in a compelling Round of 16 encounter in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Buoyed by a rich vein of form in the Uganda Premier League, the Kasasiro Boys head into this knockout tie riding a five-game winning streak, positioning themselves as strong contenders to progress into the quarterfinals.
Their recent resurgence has not only reignited belief within the camp but also strengthened ambitions of securing a domestic double this season.
KCCA’s path to this stage has been far from straightforward. They edged fellow top-flight side Mbarara City 1-0 in a tightly contested fixture at Lugogo, with Filbert Obenchan emerging as the match-winner. Prior to that, they comfortably dispatched St. George Masindi 2-0 on the road in the Round of 64.

Onduparaka, on the other hand, have had a more turbulent journey. The Caterpillars were pushed to the limit by non-league outfit Football Classroom, eventually scraping through via a penalty shootout in the previous round. Earlier, they showed their attacking prowess with a convincing 3-1 victory over Kabale City.
Historically, this fixture has tilted in KCCA’s favour. In 13 previous league meetings, the Lugogo-based side have claimed nine wins, with Onduparaka managing to avoid defeat on just four occasions: three draws and a single victory. The most recent encounter between the two sides ended in a dramatic 2-2 stalemate in a replayed fixture at Bombo in May 2023.
Before this game, KCCA hopes their strong attackers, Ivan Ahimbisibwe and Said Mayanja, will score the goals needed to win, as they compete in several tournaments.
Earlier in the day, NEC will take on Lugazi in a 3pm kickoff at the same venue, setting the stage for an action-packed afternoon of cup football.
