League frontrunners Vipers SC delivered a statement performance in the Uganda Premier League, dispatching Buhimba United 2-0 on their own turf to further cement their title ambitions.
After a slight wobble marked by consecutive stalemates, the Venoms responded in emphatic fashion at Royals Park in Butema on Tuesday. Their display was measured yet assertive, blending defensive discipline with attacking precision to maintain their remarkable unbeaten streak, now extended to 24 matches.

The visitors wasted no time asserting control. In the 12th minute, a dangerous aerial delivery from Hillary Mukundane unsettled the Buhimba backline. The ensuing confusion saw the ball deflect off Maxwell Owachgiu and roll over the line for an unfortunate own goal, handing Vipers an early advantage.
From there, Vipers dictated the tempo. Yunus Sentamu was at the heart of their attacking play, repeatedly troubling defenders with his movement and technical flair. He carved out a clear opportunity for Karim Watambala shortly after the opener, but a timely block denied the midfielder.
Sentamu himself nearly added to the tally before halftime, only to be thwarted by a sharp save from the home goalkeeper.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Vipers maintaining their grip on proceedings. Their persistence paid off in the 57th minute when Watambala confidently converted from the penalty spot, effectively putting the contest beyond reach.

With this victory, Vipers climb to 55 points at the summit, preserving a four-point cushion over KCCA FC, who also secured a narrow win in their fixture. The result further underscores Vipersโ consistency and growing authority in the title race.
Meanwhile, Buhimba Unitedโs struggles continue unabated. Rooted in 15th position with just 15 points from 24 outings, their battle against relegation looks increasingly daunting as the season progresses.
