Vipers SC tightened their grip on the title race after stretching their unbeaten run with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against rivals KCCA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Wednesday.
In a contest that carried the weight of the championship battle, KCCA showed determination and purpose, taking the lead in the 35th minute through Ivan Ahimbisibwe, who calmly converted from the penalty spot after being brought down in the box. The strikerโs effort marked his 12th goal of the season, underlining his importance to the Kasasiro.

Vipers, however, remained persistent and dangerous throughout. The Venoms saw two of their efforts ruled out for offside, with Enock Ssebaggala and Odili Chukwuma both denied by assistant referee Hakim Mulindwa.
Ssebaggala had an early goal chalked off in the 12th minute, while Odili also thought he had equalized before the break, only for the flag to intervene again.
The second half offered fewer clear-cut chances as both sides tightened up, aware of the stakes. KCCA battled bravely and looked set to secure a crucial win that would reignite the title race, but Vipers had the final say.
Second-half substitute Glodi Beyuku Munsi emerged as the difference-maker, striking late in regulation time to salvage a point for the visitors. His composed finish ensured Vipers walked away still unbeaten on the pitch this season.

With just four matches remaining, Vipers are now firmly edging toward the league crown, sitting top with 59 points. KCCA, despite a spirited performance and pushing the leaders all the way, remain second on 52 points and may rue the missed opportunity to close the gap further.
While KCCA proved they could match the leaders stride for stride, it was Vipersโ resilience and consistency that once again kept them a step ahead in the title race.
