Kitara FC have stepped up their ambitious recruitment drive ahead of the new campaign by securing the signature of experienced midfielder Jeromy Kirya on a two-year contract.
The industrious midfielder joins the Royals as a free agent after seeing out his contract with BUL FC, becoming the latest addition to a rapidly evolving squad under the Hoima-based club.
Kirya arrives with a reputation as a composed and technically gifted midfielder, capable of dictating the tempo of games through his precise passing range, intelligent ball progression and ability to glide past opponents. Comfortable operating in advanced and deeper midfield roles, he also possesses a keen eye for goal, adding another attacking dimension to Kitara’s engine room.
His arrival is expected to further strengthen a midfield department that was instrumental to the club’s impressive campaign last season, with Frank “Zagga” Tumwesigye emerging as one of the standout performers.
The former BUL star becomes another notable acquisition in what has been an aggressive transfer window for the Royals. Kitara have already bolstered their ranks with the arrivals of goalkeeper Joel “Vama” Mutakubwa, Nicholas Kasozi, Diego Missi Ssemugera, Jackson Sembatya, Martin Kizza Lubwama and Ghanaian defender Christopher Bonney.
The flurry of business reflects the club’s determination to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts next season. Kitara are fine-tuning preparations for the FUFA Super 8 tournament before shifting focus to the 2026/27 campaign, which will also see them fly Uganda’s flag in the CAF Confederation Cup.
To accommodate the influx of new faces, the Royals have already sanctioned a significant clear-out, confirming the departures of eight players. Goalkeepers Aziz Saleh and James Alitho have both moved on, alongside Muhammad Shaban, Yunus Sibira, Sadiq Ssekyembe, Amir Kakomo, Frank Kasumba and Eric Tumwine.
With fresh arrivals continuing to trickle in and the squad taking a new shape, Kitara are signalling their intent to challenge strongly both on the domestic front and in continental competition next season.
