Lugazi FC have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season after agreeing a two-year deal for midfielder Musa Ssali, Footy-Uganda understands.
The industrious midfielder arrives from Buhimba United Saints, where he spent the latter part of last season despite the club’s unsuccessful battle against relegation.
Ssali made nine league appearances during his brief spell with the Hoima-based side before their drop to the second tier, but his performances were enough to attract interest from Lugazi as they continue reshaping their squad.
A product of the renowned St. Mary’s Secondary School Kitende football programme, Ssali first announced himself on the big stage with Vipers SC, making his Uganda Premier League debut during the 2020/21 campaign.
After leaving the Venoms at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, the midfielder embarked on a journey across several top-flight clubs. He initially joined Arua Hill before switching to Express FC midway through the same campaign. He then featured for Mbale Heroes in the 2024/25 season before completing a move to Buhimba United Saints earlier this year.
Lugazi believe the versatile midfielder will provide greater depth and competition in the centre of the park as Abbey Bogere Kikomeko prepares his side for another demanding top-flight campaign.
Ssali becomes the latest addition to an increasingly active Lugazi recruitment drive. The club has already secured the signatures of Jamaldin Buchochera, Christopher Birungi, Louis Anguti Amagu and Frank Mulimi.
Away from the arrivals, the club has retained key figures Richard Ayiko and Moses Buga on new contracts, while Alfred Leku, Freedom Mungudit and Yusuf Sharif Saaka have all departed.
Lugazi will head into the new season under the guidance of head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko, who will be assisted by Bastu Ssemuyaba on the technical bench.
