Uganda’s senior men’s national football team, the Cranes, have maintained their position in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Monday, December 22, 2025.

The East African side remains 85th globally, unchanged from the previous edition of the men’s rankings published in November. The update comes at a crucial time, with the Cranes preparing for a challenging Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 campaign in Morocco.

Uganda were drawn into a demanding Group C, where they will face continental heavyweights Nigeria, North African giants Tunisia, and regional rivals Tanzania. The rankings offer a snapshot of the task ahead for head coach Paul Put’s side as they gear up for the tournament.

Among Uganda’s group opponents, Tunisia experienced a slight dip in fortunes, slipping one place from 40th to 41st in the December standings. The Carthage Eagles are scheduled to face the Cranes early in the group stage, a fixture that could prove pivotal in determining progression.

Nigeria and Tanzania, the other teams in Group C, held firm in their previous positions. The Super Eagles remain Africa’s third-highest ranked side at 38th in the world, while Tanzania continue to sit at 112th globally.

Tournament hosts Morocco continue to underline their dominance on the continent, retaining their status as Africa’s top-ranked nation and holding steady at 11th in the world rankings.

At the summit of global football, Spain remain the number one ranked team in the world. They are followed by Argentina in second place, France third, and England fourth. Portugal, the Netherlands, Brazil, Belgium, Italy, and Germany complete the top ten.
