The South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) has welcomed yet another Ugandan footballer, with Joel Madondo completing a move from Eswatini’s Nsingizini Hotspurs to Richards Bay FC.
Nsingizini Hotspurs confirmed the transfer in an official statement, noting:
“The club has received and accepted an offer from Richards Bay FC for the permanent transfer of Joel Madondo to a Betway Premiership side in South Africa. Details of the deal have been finalized and Richards Bay FC have agreed personal terms with the player.”
Madondo’s departure comes less than a year into the two-year contract he signed with Nsingizini in July 2025. Despite his brief spell at the club, he leaves with the best wishes of his former teammates and coaches.
“Whilst he will be greatly missed in the Nsingizini family, his future comes first and we are very thankful for his contribution to the success of the club,” the statement added.
“We wish him all the best in his new challenge and applaud the professional conduct displayed by Richards Bay FC during the transfer process.”

The midfielder has committed to a two-year deal with Richards Bay, which will see him at the club until the January 2028 transfer window. At the “Natal Rich Boys,” he will reunite with fellow Ugandan Salim Jamal Magoola, a goalkeeper who has represented the club since July 2022.
Madondo becomes the third Ugandan in the PSL this season, joining the likes of Denis Onyango at reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns. His arrival continues a proud tradition of Ugandan players making their mark in South African football.
Previous Ugandan stars to feature in the league include Postnet Omony, David Obua, Moses Waiswa, Timothy Batabaire, Geoffrey Massa, Allan Kateregga, Yasser Mugerwa, Isma Watenga, Godfrey Walusimbi, Charles Lukwago, Sula Matovu, Brian Umony, Ivan Bukenya, Boban Zirintusa, and Geoffrey Sserunkuma.
With Madondo now on board, the PSL continues to showcase Uganda’s growing influence on the southern African football scene.
