Lugazi FC have officially unveiled towering South Sudanese forward Alfred Leku as their latest addition ahead of the 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season.
The club confirmed the deal on Friday morning, revealing that the 26-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a two-year contract after parting ways with Kenya’s Police FC.
“We have signed experienced forward – Alfred Leku on a two-year contract from Police FC of Kenya,” Lugazi stated.
Set to don the number 19 jersey, Leku is expected to inject firepower into Lugazi’s frontline when the new campaign kicks off on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Well-travelled striker
Leku’s career has spanned several clubs across East and Southern Africa. In Uganda, he has featured for URA FC, Arua Hill, Proline, Onduparaka, Express and Vipers, leaving a mark with his physical presence and eye for goal.
Beyond Ugandan football, he has tested himself on foreign soil with Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy and Extension Gunners, before a stint at Zambian giants Zesco United.
Recent Success in Kenya
Last season proved historic for Leku as he helped Police FC clinch their first-ever Kenyan Premier League title, famously derailing Gor Mahia’s chase for a third consecutive crown.
That triumph also secured Police a berth in the CAF Champions League, but Leku has opted to pursue a fresh challenge instead of staying on for the continental adventure.
Lugazi’s Busy Transfer Window
The Mabira Forest outfit, preparing for only their second campaign in the top flight, have been active in the market, with Leku becoming their 12th new recruit.
He joins an incoming cast that includes David Bagoole, Billy Wabwire, Allan Igama, Muhammad Kakooza, Amos Etoju, Adam Mutesasira, Solomon Okwalinga, Edrine Owachgiu, Yusuf Mafabi, Paul Busolo and Dauson Mafumu.
